A picture of the ceremony of Charles XI:s accession to the throne in 1672 after the regency during his minority. The ceremony took place in the Hall of State (Swedish: ‘Rikssalen’) in the old castle Tre Kronor in Stockholm. Visible on this picture is the throne of Queen Christina, and this throne is still kept in the State Hall of the Royal Palace in Stockholm. The queen dowager Hedvig Eleonora used the smaller throne beside the throne of Queen Christina and is also visible here.
